Chellammal - or Chella Periamma as we called her, also known as Kannadiamma - for the spectacles that we always remember her by, was the second daughter of A.Lakshminarayanan (referred to as AL) - who was a prominent lawyer in Madurai, in South India.

A little known fact - after she married, her name was actually formally changed to Dharmambal, but that never stuck!

As the other grandmother, she was a complete contrast to Patti - she wasn't prone to speaking much about herself, but we still remember her quick and sharp wit. Coupled with the quiet and gentle nature, was an incredible industriousness - we remember her amazing concentration while doing things with her hands - weaving little baskets in plastic wire or making other such handicraft items.

Chellammal married Panchapakesan, son of K.K. Rama Iyer and Subbalakshmi. (Panchapakesan was born in 1897 in Thiruvaiyaru and died in 1952 in Palghat.)
